UPDATE: 03 August 2025: Turns out I didn't make
Show 1000!
From my blog: "Just to announce that, after 17
years and 865 shows(!), I'm stepping down from
the Phones Show Chat podcast and retiring. This very week
has seen my wife retire and it seems right that I spend
time with her, my daughter, my home (and dog!), rather
than scrabbling around week after week to gather guests,
gadgets, and stories."
So, the obvious questions. Will PSC continue as an audio
podcast? Yes, under Ted's capable management, but the
'home page' for PSC is different, it's phonesshowchat.uk
and there's a new RSS feed to subscribe to, though most
podcatchers and playing systems just need a new search for
"Phones Show Chat", look for the new artwork with Ted and
new co-host 'Joe' (Hickey) named, and then 'follow' or
'subscribe', etc.
Will I continue in the tech space? I'll carry on with Phones
Show Shorts on YouTube as and when I have something
to say, but only then. I've never chased numbers or
clicks! Still, do make sure you're subscribed there.
Will the PSC
MeWe forums continue? Absolutely. Ted is their
creator and they are in his hands. The forums are a great
place to hang out.
Apologies if you've been a PSC podcast addict and lover
over the last 17 years. But this is life and
things change. I was already 46 when I started PSC with
Ted and I'm now almost 64 and entitled to retire, I
contend...
More and more, I've been finding myself 'contented' with
tech, and without a burning desire to keep trying 'shiny,
shiny' and chasing what's new. A sad confession? Possibly.
Or maybe not. There's more to life than chipsets,
megapixels, and ultra-thin folding glass. Allegedly!
It's been a heck of a ride. I'll continue to be modestly
active in my writings
on my blog, and on socials at MeWe,
BlueSky,
Instagram,
and even Facebook. Blogging the life of (now) a retired
gentleman.
PS. Many people have written in with memories and good wishes. Here's a
selection, for your interest!
